Mighty summer camp
august 22-26, 2016
A Mighty Lass is proud to offer Long Island's first empowerment camp for girls in grades 1-6.
The tween years are challenging enough for anyone, but young girls have it especially rough. From online bullying to unrealistic beauty standards, it's no surprise that girls' self-esteem tends to plummet as soon as they're out of elementary school. Studies find that once girls hit high school, 44 percent of them are already trying to lose weight. More than 70 percent of girls ages 15 to 17 will avoid normal daily activities when they feel bad about their looks. And a staggering 75 percent of girls with low self-esteem have reported engaging in negative activities, such as bullying, smoking, and drinking.
It's time to take a stand against all the negativity young girls face — and summer is a great time to do it.
A Mighty Lass is proud to offer LONG ISLAND’S FIRST EMPOWERMENT CAMP for GIRLS going into grades 1-6. “A Mighty Summer” will dig deep into the minds and individual strengths of young girls by focusing on building confidence, communication and relationship skills. Through a variety of programs, such as STEM, theater as expression, art therapy and building inner/outer strength, the girls will gain access to tools and strategies to become the best version of themselves. Girls will be divided according to age groups (1st-3rd grade and 4th-6th grade).
“A Mighty Summer” will take place at the beautiful West Hills Day camp in Huntington where the girls will enjoy the many amenities the location has to offer.
